Loading up for another beer run
The Mitsubishi FUSO Canter Eco Hybrid is ensuring that the beer doesn’t spill over, as the Bristol Beer Factory is using a fleet of the trucks to deliver its barrels across the UK.
The FUSO is the world’s first diesel-electric truck and makes economic as well as environmental sense. The vehicle’s rear shutter-door even cheekily reads: “This truck drinks responsibly. Do you?”
Bristol Beer Factory Managing Director Simon Bartlett explains: “Environmental compatibility was one of our key criteria when we went out to the market to find out what was available. So, too, were payload potential and all round suitability for the job, as well as running costs. The Canter Eco Hybrid ticked all the boxes and was a clear winner.”
The Canter’s compact external dimensions and manoeuvrability make it ideally suited to urban operations, while it also offers the highest body and payload allowance of any 7.5-tonner on the market.
Mr Bartlett continues: “The Canter has certainly improved our operational efficiency, while the fact that it’s smaller than most 7.5-tonne vehicles is an added bonus, as we have to negotiate some narrow streets and tight delivery areas.”
