Truck drivers can now benefit from 63 additional secure parking spaces at Chippenham Pit Stop, one of the UK’s premier truck stops, following a £2m investment to enhance facilities and security.
The new and improved Chippenham Pit Stop officially opened at a grand ribbon-cutting event on Thursday, March 13th, 2025, which was attended by transport professionals nationwide.
National Highways partly funded the £2m project at Chippenham to reduce roadside parking issues and improve driver welfare.
As part of the upgrade, SNAP Access & Security has installed industry-specific security technology to enhance safety and efficiency at the site, including ANPR technology, high-definition CCTV, and a robust barrier entry system.
SNAP has also integrated its newly developed bookable technology into the site, enabling drivers to book their parking at Chippenham and guarantee a space.
These innovations reinforce Chippenham Pit Stop’s commitment to providing truck drivers and fleet operators with a secure environment.
SNAP Access & Security, a trusted provider of intelligent security solutions for the haulage sector, has played a crucial role in modernising truck parking security across the UK.
A trio of SNAP staff attended the opening event, including Managing Director Matthew Bellamy, Head of Commercial UK Lisa McIntyre, and Head of Commercial Access Security Ben Sheldrake.
“Our mission is to make business premises safer and more efficient for drivers,” said Ben.
“Integrating our security solutions at Chippenham Pit Stop ensures that drivers have access to a facility where they can rest confidently.”
Matthew Bellamy praised the work to improve truck parking across the UK.
“Truck drivers are the backbone of our economy, and it’s vital they have safe, secure, and reliable places to rest,” said Matthew.
“National Highways’ investment in improving truck parking areas, such as Chippenham Pit Stop, is a crucial step forward. By integrating advanced security solutions and bookable technology, we are making these sites safer and more efficient for drivers and operators alike.”
