DX SameDay expands with new hyperlocal delivery capability

DX has expanded its DX SameDay service with a new hyperlocal delivery capability designed to support businesses with short-distance, high-volume and multi-site delivery requirements.

The logistics provider, which operates across parcel, freight, fulfilment and final mile services, said the new capability extends the reach of DX SameDay beyond traditional time-critical and nationwide deliveries, providing a more responsive option for businesses moving consignments between locations in close proximity.

DX SameDay operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, supporting both planned and urgent delivery requirements. The introduction of the hyperlocal service is intended to make the same-day network more suitable for businesses that have regular movements between multiple nearby sites, as well as those requiring one-off local deliveries.

The move reflects the growing role of same-day logistics in day-to-day fleet and business operations, rather than its traditional use primarily for exceptional or highly time-sensitive consignments.

DX said the new hyperlocal capability has been supported by significant investment in the infrastructure underpinning its SameDay network. The service is designed to give businesses greater flexibility when managing deliveries over relatively short distances, while retaining the responsiveness and visibility associated with the wider DX SameDay operation.

For fleet and transport managers, local distribution between sites can create its own operational challenges, particularly where multiple deliveries need to be coordinated within tight timeframes. The new service is intended to address these requirements by providing a dedicated same-day option for businesses moving goods between nearby locations.

The hyperlocal capability can support regular delivery patterns as well as individual consignments, giving customers the flexibility to use the service according to their operational requirements.

Bookings can be made through the DX Logistics website, telephone or email channels. For suitable vehicle types, collections are guaranteed within 60 minutes of booking confirmation, providing businesses with a rapid response when transport requirements arise.

Once a consignment is collected, deliveries are GPS tracked and actively monitored throughout the journey. This provides customers with visibility of their consignments while they are in transit, alongside real-time proof of delivery.

The combination of rapid collection, tracking and delivery visibility is aimed at businesses where knowing the location and status of goods is important to operational planning and customer service.

DX said its SameDay service has already been used by businesses as a premium delivery solution, helping them support the service levels they provide to their own customers.

The company sees the addition of hyperlocal deliveries as a way of broadening the role of the service, allowing businesses to incorporate same-day transport into more routine logistics operations.

Rather than limiting same-day delivery to urgent consignments, the hyperlocal model is intended to support businesses that need to move goods between multiple nearby locations on a regular basis. This could be particularly relevant to organisations operating multi-site networks where stock, equipment, products or other consignments need to be transferred quickly between facilities.

The service also forms part of DX’s wider logistics offering, allowing customers to consolidate more of their transport and logistics requirements with a single provider.

For businesses already using DX for other logistics services, the additional SameDay capability provides another option for managing deliveries where standard transport arrangements may not provide the required speed or flexibility.

Steve Bescoby, Managing Director of DX SameDay, said the logistics market was changing as businesses increasingly incorporated same-day delivery into their normal operations.

“Same-day delivery is evolving. For many businesses, it is no longer reserved for exceptional or time-critical requirements. It is increasingly becoming part of how they manage day-to-day operations, particularly across multi-site locations.

“Our investment in hyperlocal capability reflects that evolution. It gives us the ability to apply the responsiveness and visibility of DX SameDay to shorter-distance, higher-volume delivery requirements, and opens up more ways for our customers to use the service.

“Ultimately, we want DX SameDay to become an integral part of how our customers deliver for their customers.”

The expansion comes as businesses continue to look for greater flexibility from their logistics operations, particularly where delivery performance can have a direct impact on customer experience.

For transport managers, the ability to arrange a collection within a defined timeframe and monitor a consignment throughout its journey can provide greater control over local delivery requirements. GPS tracking and real-time proof of delivery also provide additional information for businesses managing customer expectations or coordinating activity across multiple sites.

DX’s approach combines these features with the ability to arrange both planned and time-critical deliveries through the same service. The addition of hyperlocal capability therefore gives customers another option for managing short-distance movements without separating them from the wider DX SameDay network.

The company said the investment would enable it to respond to a broader range of customer requirements, particularly where delivery volumes are higher but the distances involved are relatively short.

As same-day delivery becomes increasingly integrated into business logistics, the ability to provide fast, visible and flexible local transport is likely to remain an important consideration for organisations seeking to maintain service levels while managing increasingly complex distribution networks.

DX’s new hyperlocal capability is intended to provide that flexibility while complementing the company’s existing parcel, freight, fulfilment and final-mile services.
