Hudson Kapel has announced the introduction of two new dedicated non-runner sales to its monthly schedule, responding to growing demand from leasing companies, fleet operators and finance providers.

The move comes amid a rise in the volume of non-runners entering the remarketing space. Over the last 12 months, Hudson Kapel has seen a 30% increase in aged and higher-mileage vehicles being returned to fleet and leasing providers. With many vans now averaging over 70 months in age and approaching 80,000 miles, a greater proportion are being classed as uneconomical to repair and are therefore entering auctions as non-runners.

Auction buyers are also increasingly willing to bid on vehicles in need of work, and the Hudson Kapel has invested in its remarketing ecosystem to create a structured sales environment specifically for this segment. Non-runners have become a consistent part of the wholesale mix, with demand from buyers who are either equipped to repair or seeking parts opportunities.

Hudson Kapel operates across three UK locations, offering 75,000 sq ft of workshop and bodyshop space, alongside 61 acres of secure vehicle storage. It currently hosts six digital auction events per week. It will now run additional sales across its network, serving as dedicated channels for vendors looking to dispose of end-of-contract or off-fleet assets that are not roadworthy.

Simon Withey, director at Hudson Kapel, said:  “We’re seeing strong, consistent demand from both vendors and trade buyers for vehicles in this category, and the additional sales will help us increase throughput and deliver even faster returns for our clients.

“Our non-runner remarketing model is backed by in-house refurbishment and an integrated technology platform, offering real-time tracking, condition grading and digital imaging. This gives buyers confidence when bidding on repairable vehicles and helps sellers achieve quicker stock turn.

All sales are hosted on Hudson Kapel’s proprietary auction platform, which combines live digital bidding with full transparency on pricing, condition and sale history. The system supports international participation, enabling the company to remarket vehicles not just in the UK but to buyers worldwide seeking salvage or repairable stock.

The new non-runner auctions will form part of Hudson Kapel’s broader programme of digital live and salvage sales, which already process a high volume of fleet and lease disposals each week.

Withey added: “Our approach is to give vendors maximum choice and flexibility. Whether you’re a fleet business with hundreds of non-runners or a finance house clearing damaged returns, we have the infrastructure, capacity and buyer base to deliver results.

With the additional sales now operational, Hudson Kapel is looking to strengthen its position as one of the UK’s most comprehensive automotive remarketing providers for both standard and non-runner vehicles.
