Tesla Model 3 Highlander

New Tesla Model 3 Highland earns rave reviews

Less than 24 hours after its debut, automotive journalists wasted no time sharing their initial impressions of the new Tesla Model 3 Highland. Among the standout features highlighted in these reviews was the Model 3 Highland’s remarkable advancements in aerodynamics.

In comparison to the previous generation Tesla Model 3, which boasted a drag coefficient of 0.23 Cd, the new Highland Model 3 takes this achievement a step further, achieving an impressive 0.219 Cd. Many journalists and enthusiasts are hailing the new Tesla Model 3 as the most aerodynamic Tesla vehicle ever produced, though it’s worth noting that the Tesla Model S still boasts a slightly better drag coefficient of 0.208 Cd.

Tesla Model 3 HighlanderIt’s important to differentiate the Model 3 Highland from other Tesla models in terms of aerodynamics. While the Model Y shares a drag coefficient of 0.23 with the previous-gen Tesla Model 3, the new Model 3 Highland is, indeed, the most aerodynamic among the Model Y, Model X, and the previous-generation Model 3, but not when compared to the new Model S or Model S Plaid.

Tesla has implemented subtle exterior design changes in the new Model 3, in addition to the more apparent alterations detailed in our previous report. These adjustments contribute to the overall fine-tuning of the vehicle’s aerodynamics. The improvements in aerodynamics have translated to a 5-8% increase in range compared to the previous model, marking a significant milestone in energy efficiency and fuel consumption for Tesla’s redesigned Model 3 compact luxury sedan.

Beyond its enhanced aerodynamics and efficiency, the Tesla Model 3 Highland also places a strong emphasis on safety. Tesla has taken measures to reinforce the vehicle’s doors, a noteworthy enhancement that further enhances its ability to handle side-impact (t-bone) accidents. In this regard, Tesla continues to uphold its reputation as the maker of one of the world’s safest sedans.

A fortunate Tesla owner in Norway had the opportunity to test drive the new Model 3 Highland.

As per his Reddit post, he expressed astonishment at the significant improvement in the driving experience when comparing it to the previous model.

An owner of a 2019 Tesla Model 3 remarked that the earlier version now seems like a “horse-drawn carriage” in comparison to the new iteration. While his enthusiasm might have been heightened due to his first drive, he noted, “It’s exceptionally quiet! The upgraded sound system delivers more impact and clarity, especially at moderate volume levels,” he shared.
