Highlighting the remarkable achievement of the CV Show 2025 becoming the UK’s first carbon-neutral commercial vehicle exhibition has been the landmark partnership with Lightfoot. This innovative driver coaching and fleet efficiency provider played a critical role in aligning the event with the growing environmental expectations of fleet operators and industry stakeholders.

Lightfoot’s Real-Time Fleet Technology Reduces Emissions

Lightfoot, already well-known in the fleet sector for its real-time, in-cab coaching devices, deployed its proprietary driver behaviour platform to minimise emissions from logistics and visitor transport. Their technology reduces idling, encourages smoother driving, and cuts CO₂ emissions by up to 15% across fleets — a crucial edge in achieving carbon neutrality during a major national event.

Fleet managers attending the show were able to interact with Lightfoot’s live dashboards, displaying fuel savings and emissions data gathered from their monitored demo fleet over the three-day exhibition. These results were validated by independent carbon auditors commissioned by the CV Show organisers, setting a benchmark for how low-emission logistics can be implemented at scale.

Carbon Offsetting and Verified Neutrality

Beyond emissions reduction, the CV Show 2025 reached certified carbon neutrality by offsetting remaining emissions through Gold Standard carbon credits. These included investment in verified renewable energy projects and nature-based solutions such as reforestation and habitat restoration in the UK and overseas.

Lightfoot oversaw the collation of travel data, energy use, stand logistics, and exhibition build emissions, ensuring that offsets were accurately matched. This full-scope audit not only made the event carbon-neutral but also transparent and verifiable.

Talking to FleetPoint at the show, Paul Hollick, Chief Executive Officer at Lightfoot, described the differences between their approach to driver improvement and safety and their competitors.

Paul said, “Currently, there are over 120,000 drivers utilising Lightfoot, coaching them to drive better and more economically. Lightfoot’s aim is to ensure everyone gets home safely, and that vehicles they drive reduce their emissions.

“Lightfoot’s approach is driver centric rather than manager centric, empowering drivers, through the use of financial rewards, to improve their driving skills.”

Paul confirmed that engagement was increasing and that they are planning to take the system into Ireland and Europe.
