Enterprise Flex-E-Rent is strengthening its connected fleet strategy through a new partnership with SureCam, using video-enabled telematics and complementary technologies to improve safety, reduce risk and increase operational efficiency.

The commercial vehicle hire specialist is working with SureCam and a growing ecosystem of technology partners, including Peoplesafe and Optimize, to develop integrated solutions that can be connected with its internal systems.

The collaboration forms part of Enterprise Flex-E-Rent’s wider fleet digitisation strategy, with technology being used to provide greater visibility, improve fleet safety and deliver more efficient fleet management.

“We are looking at how we can leverage more from technology as part of our ambitious fleet digitisation strategy,” explains James Walker, Group SMR Manager at Enterprise Flex-E-Rent. “Working closely with SureCam and its partners, we are using complementary tools, integrated with our internal systems, to create a connected fleet solution that improves safety and eliminates risk, while supporting a highly efficient and productive operation.”

SureCam dashcams have been deployed across Enterprise Flex-E-Rent’s mobile service van fleet since 2022. The bespoke system incorporates front- and rear-facing cameras, providing video evidence to support incident investigations while helping to deter, detect and record tool theft.

The relationship is now developing beyond dashcams, with Enterprise Flex-E-Rent using SureCam’s wider technology ecosystem to access complementary solutions tailored to its fleet and risk management requirements.

The mobile service operation comprises 100 vehicles driven by technicians working across the UK and Ireland. These mobile technicians provide maintenance services as part of Enterprise Flex-E-Rent’s managed fleet solutions, supporting 67,000 Enterprise and customer-owned vehicles.

Alongside the primary dashcam and secondary rear-facing camera, Enterprise Flex-E-Rent has introduced Peoplesafe’s lone worker protection service. The technology provides mobile technicians with additional reassurance by ensuring support is available when they are working independently.

The company is also working with Optimize to take fleet management beyond conventional route optimisation, using artificial intelligence to improve fleet efficiency and decision-making.

Enterprise Flex-E-Rent says the connected approach is not only delivering benefits for its own operations but is also helping it develop enhanced fleet management services for customers.

“The connected technology approach is benefitting our own fleet and providing return on investment but also enabling us to deliver powerful fleet management services to our customers. Our aspiration is to give our customers the information and insight needed to run their businesses effectively. We are, therefore, working with fleet technology partners to make this a reality,” adds Walker.

For fleet operators, bringing video telematics, lone worker protection and AI-powered fleet management together could provide a more joined-up approach to managing commercial vehicles and mobile workforces.

Rather than relying on separate technology platforms, Enterprise Flex-E-Rent’s approach is focused on integrating complementary systems so that information can be used more effectively across its operations.

Sam Footer, Partnership Director of SureCam, said the Enterprise Flex-E-Rent relationship demonstrates the potential of an integrated technology ecosystem to address complex fleet challenges.

“This valued partnership is a perfect example of how the video-enabled ecosystem is designed to work, bringing together technology specialists to develop integrated solutions that tackle complex fleet challenges. We are working closely with the Enterprise Flex-E-Rent team to drive innovation in the connected fleet space to deliver smarter, safer and more productive operations. Moving forward, we will be supporting a calendar of depot days across the UK and Ireland to showcase the benefits of integrated technology solutions.”

The partnership highlights the growing role of connected fleet technology in commercial vehicle operations, where businesses are increasingly looking to combine vehicle data, video, workforce safety and artificial intelligence to improve productivity while managing risk.

For Enterprise Flex-E-Rent, the collaboration with SureCam and its technology partners represents another step towards a more connected, data-driven fleet operation, while giving its customers access to greater insight into the performance and safety of their vehicles.
