CollectPlus wins Best Use of Innovation at the Delivery Excellence Awards

CollectPlus, the UK’s largest independent store-based parcel delivery and returns service, came home victorious in the Best Use of Innovation category at the Delivery Excellence Awards on Tuesday (26 February), for its label-less returns service using Amazon Alexa.

Neil Ashworth, chief strategy officer, Yodel & CEO, CollectPlus (centre) receives the award from Bruce Fair, chief revenue officer, Metapack and Paul Scratchley from award sponsors, Jersey Post

The award recognises CollectPlus’ game-changing use of mobile and voice technologies to create a more seamless returns service supported by a virtual assistant. The new service, which launched in 2018, allows customers to order their Returns label through the Alexa app’s voice activation technology, creating an ultra-convenient method for returns, without the need for a printer. Customers simply tell Alexa the name of the retailer they wish to make a return to; the device then emails a barcode to the customer’s phone, along with a link to help them find their nearest CollectPlus store. The shopkeeper puts the label in to a plastic wallet and then attaches it to the parcel. After the parcel is dropped into store, customers can track their return through its journey to the online retailer using the same Alexa app.

Commenting on the award win, Neil Ashworth, Chief Strategy Officer of Yodel and CEO of CollectPlus, said:CollectPlus was built out of a customer and retailer need for a more convenient way to receive and return parcels and we are committed to making that process even easier through innovative technology.

“This voice-activated returns tool works hand in-hand with our printer-less returns service, which means retailers no longer need to rely on customers having printers to make returns. The team worked incredibly hard to make this happen and we are delighted to take home this award.”

The awards, which took place in London at TDC Global – The Delivery Conference, were attended by major retailers and logistics suppliers from around the world.

CollectPlus enables shoppers to conveniently collect purchases and return unwanted items through a nationwide network of 7,000 Click and Collect stores. It now handles in excess of 400,000 parcels a week and was ranked no.1 in YouGov’s BrandIndex Satisfaction survey in the UK parcel industry for 2018
