Keeping Stagecoach on the road
The UK’s largest bus operator extends its sole-supply contract agreement for a further three years
Lex Autolease, the UK’s leading vehicle management and fleet funding specialist, has been providing vehicles to Stagecoach on a contract hire basis since 2005. The new contract sees Stagecoach using vehicles with improved CO2 efficiency as part of its wider strategy to reduce carbon emissions across its UK bus business.
The Stagecoach fleet of company vehicles consists of cars and vans, including various hybrid vehicles such as the Lexus CT, Volvo V60 and Toyota Prius. Other manufacturers on the fleet include Vauxhall, BMW, Mercedes and Ford.
Lex Autolease will continue to provide accident management services, giving Stagecoach access 24 hours a day to a specialist helpdesk team. Stagecoach also receives free courtesy cars for the duration of repairs, and costs are monitored by a team of qualified assessor engineers.
In addition, the Fleet Consultancy team at Lex Autolease works closely with Stagecoach to continuously review its fleet policies, and ensure company objectives around reward and sustainability are met.
Linda Rivett, Regional Director for Scotland at Lex Autolease, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Stagecoach has decided to extend our fleet partnership for a further three years. We recognise that a business such as Stagecoach, relies heavily on their fleet and as such vehicle downtime management is critical. By providing accident management and maintenance services, Stagecoach can be assured of our ongoing commitment to keep costs to a minimum.”
Sam Greer, Stagecoach UK Bus Regional Director, said: “Sustainability is at the heart of our business. We are working hard to reduce the impact of our buses and coaches on the environment and it is just as important that our other company vehicles help deliver carbon savings too. The hybrid vehicles available through Lex Autolease will help us further reduce our carbon footprint as a business.”
