TIP works with Krone for European steel transport solution

TIP Trailer Services have supplied a new consignment of curtainsider trailers to Middlesbrough-based LV Shipping to carry steel pipes and related products for their customer, the global pipe and tubes provider, Van Leeuwen.

Manufactured by Krone in Werlte, NW Germany, the Profi Liner trailers are a mixture of standard and high-cube specifications – both of which are designed for the specific needs of the steel pipe transport sector yet at the same time, set a high standard specification for international freight forwarding.

TIP Trailer Services’ International Strategic Account Manager, David George, explains: “Once again, LV Shipping have returned to TIP to extend their UK fleet. The trailers were specified through close consultation with the Krone UK sales team; come with a ten-year anti-corrosion paint warranty and are certified to European standard Code XL – factors which make it possible for us to offer a long-term lease and then take the equipment back with confidence into our rental fleet at the end of the contract.”

Equipped with additional slot-in side posts, Krone’s easy-operation sliding roof and Multi-Lock load-securing system, the Profi Liners are ideal for fast and secure loading of heavy and out-sized cargo. Accordingly, strapping points are positioned at 100mm intervals along both side raves, which enables the load to be safely secured at any point along the trailer.

Richard Dyer is Transport Manager for LV: “TIP always provide a good all-round service and work closely with the manufacturer to match the right trailer equipment to our specific requirements. In this case, the Krone Profi Liners tick every box: Fast, secure and flexible loading with a greater side aperture than other options. Overall, in terms of round-the-clock service and high-quality trailers, we are in secure hands – which gives us the ability to provide the highest standard of service to our broad range of customers.”

For additional strength and security, the rear doors are steel ‘container type’ with bolted rear frame, integrated door locks and concealed door hinges, leaving a smooth, flat outer surface for easy livery application. While the steel front wall comes with bolted corner posts and is reinforced on the inside with hard-wearing phenolic-coated plywood.

“These trailers are built to last and designed for the job in hand” concludes David George. “The Krone team are renowned for their product knowledge and attention to detail, which helps greatly when aligning new trailer equipment to our customers’ operational needs.”
