Geely Monjaro EM-i to make European debut at Paris Motor Show

The all-new Geely Monjaro EM-i will make its European debut at the Paris Motor Show on Monday 12 October. The appearance marks the first time Geely Auto’s latest flagship SUV has been shown in Europe.

The Monjaro EM-i is Geely Auto’s first global plug-in hybrid SUV in the D-segment. It combines hybrid technology, long-range capability and a premium SUV experience.

Geely says the model has been developed to deliver a balance of efficiency, comfort and practicality. Its arrival also highlights the manufacturer’s growing focus on

electrified vehicles for international markets.

The Geely Monjaro EM-i will take centre stage on the company’s stand at the Paris Motor Show. Visitors will have their first opportunity to see the new SUV at close quarters and explore Geely Auto’s latest approach to plug-in hybrid mobility.

The European debut comes as demand for electrified SUVs continues to develop across the market. Geely is positioning the Monjaro EM-i as a premium offering that combines electric driving capability with the flexibility of a hybrid powertrain.

Geely Monjaro EM-i uses GEA-Evo architecture

The Monjaro EM-i is based on Geely’s GEA-Evo architecture. The company developed the platform specifically for new energy vehicles.

The architecture supports flexible space utilisation, multi-energy compatibility and comprehensive safety systems. It also incorporates Geely’s GEEA 3.0 electrical and electronic architecture.

According to Geely, this technology is designed to enhance the vehicle’s intelligent driving experience. The platform also provides the foundations for the Monjaro EM-i’s spacious interior and combination of performance and efficiency.

The GEA-Evo architecture allows Geely to optimise the vehicle for electrified powertrains. It also provides the flexibility needed to support different energy technologies across the manufacturer’s wider range.

The Monjaro EM-i uses Geely’s EM-i Super Hybrid system. The system aims to deliver strong performance while keeping energy consumption low.

Geely says the combination of the platform and hybrid technology gives the SUV four key attributes: space, performance, intelligence and safety.

For fleet operators and company car drivers, the plug-in hybrid powertrain could also provide an alternative to both conventional petrol SUVs and fully electric models. The technology allows drivers to benefit from electric driving while retaining the flexibility associated with a hybrid vehicle for longer journeys.

Inspired by the world’s highest peaks

The Monjaro name draws inspiration from Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. Geely says the mountain’s snow-covered summit represents a combination of grandeur and purity, as well as strength and restraint.

The manufacturer has built the vehicle’s naming concept around the philosophy “Peak Within. Drive Beyond.”

Geely says this philosophy reflects the Monjaro EM-i’s combination of ambition and composure. It also aims to convey the character of a premium SUV designed for global markets.

The Paris Motor Show debut will give Geely an opportunity to establish the Monjaro EM-i within its expanding European electrified vehicle portfolio.

Four electrified Geely models on show

The Monjaro EM-i will not appear alone at the Geely Auto stand. Three other models will join the new plug-in hybrid SUV in Paris.

The Geely EX2 is a fully electric compact model designed for urban mobility. It combines smart technology and efficiency with accessible zero-emission driving.

The Geely EX5 is a fully electric SUV that combines contemporary styling with intelligent connectivity and everyday versatility. It highlights Geely Auto’s approach to practical, technology-led electric mobility.

The Geely STARRAY EM-i completes the line-up. The plug-in hybrid SUV combines the advantages of electric driving with the flexibility needed for longer journeys.

Together, the four models demonstrate Geely Auto’s multi-energy strategy. The range spans compact electric vehicles, fully electric SUVs and plug-in hybrid models.

This approach gives Geely the ability to target different customer requirements as European markets continue their transition towards electrified transport.

Geely targets next phase of European growth

The European debut of the Monjaro EM-i also represents an important moment for Geely Auto as the manufacturer expands its presence across the continent.

The company is using its growing electrified vehicle portfolio to offer customers greater choice. That strategy covers different vehicle sizes, powertrains and use cases.

Michael Yang, managing director of Geely Auto UK, said the Paris Motor Show would provide an opportunity to demonstrate the company’s direction.

“With the Monjaro EM-i making its European debut at the Paris Motor Show next week, Geely Auto will use the show to demonstrate not only where the brand is today, but where it is heading next: towards a new era of intelligent, electrified and globally connected mobility. We are entering an exciting new chapter for Geely Auto, combining distinctive design, intelligent technology and electrified powertrains with a clear ambition to offer customers more choice”.

The appearance of the Monjaro EM-i in Paris therefore provides more than a European introduction for a new SUV. It gives Geely a platform to demonstrate how it plans to compete in an increasingly electrified European market.

For fleet managers, the growing availability of plug-in hybrid SUVs adds another option as businesses assess vehicle replacement strategies, emissions targets and the practical requirements of drivers.

The Monjaro EM-i will make its European debut at the Paris Motor Show on Monday 12 October. Geely Auto will display the vehicle alongside the EX2, EX5 and STARRAY EM-i at Hall 7.1, Stand D12, Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
