OCU Group, a leading infrastructure engineering business, has slashed its motor insurance costs by 42% within eight months of implementing AI-powered fleet management solutions from Samsara, the pioneer of the Connected Operations® Platform.
By installing AI-powered Dash Cams across its 2,600-vehicle fleet, in addition to Samsara’s platform, OCU Group has met the challenge of rising insurance costs and unknowns in driver behaviour.
Through complete visibility into its fleet and driver behaviour, OCU Group has real-time access to high-quality camera footage for insurance claims defence and the ability to monitor, and act on, driver behaviour such as speeding or mobile phone use.
Since deploying Samsara, OCU Group has achieved a number of benefits, including:
- A 28% reduction in YoY reduction in motor insurance claims volume
- 70% of claims reported to insurers within 48 hours of OCU Group being notified
- 5% reduction in overall motor insurance premiums
Chris Shorey, Regional Plant & Transport Manager at OCU Group, said, “In just eight months, we’ve achieved significant improvements in driver safety, claim management, and operational efficiency. This rapid transformation shows the effectiveness of Samsara’s solutions and our team’s commitment to embracing new technologies.”
Moving to the Samsara Connected Operations Platform has also enabled OCU Group to combine three disparate systems into a single, unified platform. This consolidation has streamlined operations, improved data accuracy, and allowed for smarter, data-driven decision making.
“OCU Group is a clear example of how fleet-based companies can use smarter fleet management tools to deliver tangible improvements across the entire business, even in a short period of time,” said Philip van der Wilt, SVP & GM EMEA at Samsara. “By taking a proactive approach to safety, OCU Group has reduced accidents, lowered insurance costs, and built a safer, more efficient operation.”
