Revolutionary predictive Artificial Intelligence camera given the green light

A predictive artificial intelligence camera that is set to take the fleet sector by storm is in its final trial stage with a leading Northeast Bus & Coach operator.

CENEYE, which is set to be given the green light for launch once trials are complete in the coming weeks, is the latest product delivered by leading supplier of vehicle CCTV and telematics for fleet operators in the UK, Centrad.

The cutting-edge tech utilises the power of AI to warn drivers when a pedestrian or vehicle is within close proximity of the vehicle.  The system is also able to predict and warn the driver in real time of a possible collision before it occurs.

Video footage of an event is then seamlessly uploaded to the Centrad Live portal for further analysis.

Centrad has launched the new system in order to help reduce on-road deaths in the UK.

The CENEYE system gauges the distance of a vehicles proximity and ascertains whether it is within an amber or red zone. Stationary objects will only trigger the system in the red zone, due to imminent collision possibilities. Objects in the red zone trigger a warning to the driver and the fleet manager.

With the Direct Vision Standard’s star requirement also set to increase to a minimum of three stars by 2024, fleet operators who operate vehicles in Greater London will be forced to comply with the latest regulations – or face the financial penalties.

One of the key benefits of the CENEYE system is the speed of installation, where conventional camera systems can take over six hours to fully install, the CENEYE can take just two hours to be fully operational. This reduced install time can drastically improve the time vehicles are off the road for, with the expected increase in DVS requirements a vast number of vehicles will require upgrading prior to being release on the roads.

Centrad Managing Director Geoff Cross believes that the adoption of CENEYE will not only assist operators enhance the visibility on their vehicles for drivers, but will be vital in helping Transport for London in achieving its Zero Vision pledge of all deaths and serious injuries will be eliminated from London’s transport network by 2041.

Geoff commented: “Artificial Intelligence is already in the process of revolutionising the world as we currently know it, and through harnessing its power, will create a seismic shift that will lead towards helping to save thousands of lives per year.”

CENEYE can help fleet managers highlight problem drivers by recording the number of incidents occurring with drivers, this will allow them to either discipline said drivers on their road manners, or enter them for more driver training, thus reducing insurance premium costs, accident costs and maintenance costs.

“With CENEYE, its cutting-edge AI technology will reliably and accurately warn a driver of a potential collision and will help us on our mission to prevent accidents, reduce insurance costs and ultimately avoid needless causalities.

“With feedback from trials already being positive, we are excited about the prospect of rolling out the product to fleet operators across the UK.”
