BOOM: Car registrations up again

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) are upping their 2013 forecast after new car registrations grew for the 20th month running.

In October, 157,314 cars were registered – an increase of 4% – with registrations for 2013 to-date climbing 10.2% to 1,952,238 units.

The strong performance has seen the SMMT raise their forecast from 2.22million to 2.25million units for 2013.

Mike Hawes, Chief Executive of the SMMT, said: “Looking ahead, we anticipate more moderate growth as the market stabilises.”
