MX5: Mazda’s Silver Anniversary Celebration

After a quarter of a century and three generations, Mazda yesterday announced the next stage on the MX-5 roadster’s journey.

At two special events being held in Spain in early September, Mazda will reveal the upcoming fourth-generation model to an exclusive audience.

The initial unveiling will take place in Barcelona on 3-4 September, simultaneously to similar events in Japan and the U.S.

Mazda’s guests around the world will be the first to lay eyes on the all-new MX-5, which holds the Guinness World Record as the bestselling two-seater sports car of all time.

On 6 September, MX-5 enthusiasts from across Europe are expected to converge on Barcelona to view the new sports car.

Under the “Long live the Roadster” banner, both occasions will commemorate the silver anniversary of the MX-5 of which almost 945,000 having been produced since 1989.

Jeff Guyton, President and CEO at Mazda Motor Europe, said: “The MX-5 is the product that best epitomises Mazda’s convention-defying spirit and our love of driving.

“It has been grabbing people’s attention for 25 years, and with the new-generation model we’re aiming to share this passion with yet another generation of drivers.”
