RECORDS: Manheim auctions prospering
Remarketers Manheim are celebrating a record-breaking autumn for their UK truck business and a bumper £7.1million haul at a Lex Autolease Megasale.
Recent auctions at the brand’s Leeds and Colchester centres have achieved 100% conversions for several major HGV fleet operators.
Manheim delivered more than £250,000 in actual sales value for Hitachi Capital at Leeds, with 26 end-of-contract trucks being sold.
Highlights included a pair of 2006 Mercedes Axor 2543 6×2 tractor crane units, which sold for £26,600 and £25,520 respectively.
This week also saw 29 out of 29 BT Fleet trucks sold at Colchester, with more than £500,000 raked in overall by 126 vehicles.
Star performer of the event was a 2009 DAF CF 75.290 6×2 dropside with rear-mounted crane that went for £39,400.
James Davis, Director of Commercial Vehicles at Manheim, said: “The sales results enjoyed by both Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicles and BT Fleet are industry-leading.
“Manheim is attracting the highest volume of direct vendor entries in the UK and buyers are responding with record-breaking attendances and bidding activity.
“Manheim’s recent investment and refocus on its HGV business, following the acquisition of EVS Online Auctions in June, is paying dividends for buyers and vendors alike.”
Meanwhile, the Lex Autolease Megasale – also at Manheim Colchester – saw 1,000 ex-fleet, finance and commercial vehicles go under the hammer.
More than 30% of vehicles were sold via Manheim’s online bidding platform Simulcast, with the event enjoying a 85% conversion rate and an average of 99.5% CAP clean.
Glenn Sturley, Vehicle Remarketing Director at Lex Autolease, said: “We’re thrilled with the results of our most recent Megasale event at Manheim.
“The buyers were out in force to take advantage of a diverse line-up, featuring small to large cars, premium and luxury models, hybrids, ex-MoD fleet and LCVs from Lex Autolease, as well as motorcycles, taxis, motorhomes, caravans and LCVs from our sister company, Black Horse.
“The team at Manheim has done a fantastic job showcasing the extensive range of high quality Lex Autolease vehicles on offer and we’re already planning an even bigger and better event for 2014.”
Mark Taylor, General Manager at Manheim Colchester, added: “Our unique four lane set-up and the broad range of quality vehicles on offer ensured we had a serious ‘buzz’ in the auction hall, with hundreds of buyers also joining in the atmosphere through our online bidding platform Simulcast.
“The hard work of the Lex Autolease and Manheim teams in the run up to the event has truly paid off and we’re delighted to have offered buyers the ultimate auction experience.”
