RECOGNISED: Hewdens bag FTA award

Hewden have received the Freight Transport Association’s (FTA) Roadworthiness Award, in recognition of high standards in maintaining vehicles and trailers, and controlling driver-related defects.

The plant hire firm, one of the largest in the UK, bagged the award thanks to the work of the organisation’s Bangor depot in particular.

Hewden support professional contractors and builders with a core fleet of 30 machine types – including excavators, backhoes, rollers, telehandlers, dumpers and access platforms.

Roadworthiness Awards highlight FTA members’ efforts to keep fleets safe, legal and efficient and recognise excellent standards of vehicle safety, condition and maintenance standards.

Lee Scarlett, Head of Contract Relations at the FTA, said: “We are delighted to present Hewden with another FTA Roadworthiness Award.

“Their Bangor depot in particular was selected to receive the award in recognition of a very strong performance in controlling driver related defects.

“This combined with having the lowest overall number of defects for both vehicles and trailers in their national fleet demonstrated the overall excellent condition of vehicles operated by this depot.”

Kevin Buckler, Transport Compliance Manager at Hewden, added: “Hewden is delighted to be the recipient of the prestigious FTA Roadworthiness Award.

“It is rewarding to know that our commitment to operating a safe and compliant fleet of HGVs by using FTA’s Vehicle Inspection Service, benchmarking reports has been recognised.”
