PROBLEM: Do you ensure your fleet is fit for the road?

Businesses must ensure their vehicles are safe to be on the roads, Brake have insisted.

The road safety charity are hosting a seminar this summer – ‘Maintenance and mechanics: how safe are your vehicles and who’s checking them?’ – aimed at addressing the issue.

Taking place on Wednesday, June 25, in London, the IRTE-sponsored seminar will see experienced fleet and road safety practitioners look at legal requirements for maintenance and mechanics.

It will also address employer responsibilities, including monitoring driver vehicle checks and reporting defects, and attendees will learn from an organisation that has successfully implemented an effective maintenance policy and achieved driver buy-in.

Ellie Pearson, Senior Professional Engagement Officer at Brake, said: “We know at-work drivers are an especially high-risk group on our roads and therefore it is incredibly important that employers go that extra mile to ensure their vehicles are maintained to the highest standard.

“We would encourage any business that takes fleet safety seriously to send a representative along to this event.”
