HGV and bus driving tests facing key changes

Driving test rules for lorry, bus and coach drivers are set to change later this year, it has been confirmed.

In response to a public consultation which ran in 2013, the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) have made two key alterations to the test.

The need to use a vehicle with eight-forward gear ratios for large test vehicles (category C) has been removed.

New rules also allow people taking category C and D tests in an automatic vehicle to also receive manual entitlement, if they already have it for cars, lorries or buses, with or without trailers.
