Arnold Clark is delighted to have recently welcomed 118 new apprentices into the company as part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week.

The apprenticeship programme at Arnold Clark, one of the UK’s biggest car dealer groups, offers anyone over 16 years of age the opportunity to learn skills and gain a recognised qualification.

All apprentices will receive training at an Arnold Clark site located in Scotland or England, and some will also attend training blocks at one at Arnold Clark’s industry-accredited GTG Training centres.

After gaining their qualifications, apprentices will have the opportunity to grow their skills further and develop their career. Arnold Clark currently employs over 900 apprentices, with 96% of them going onto a full-time position with the Group.

Many of the apprenticeships offered are in traditional motor trade roles, such as technicians, spray painters, body repairers and parts advisors. However, there are also apprenticeships in engineering, customer service and business admin.

With such a wide range of roles available, apprenticeships are a fantastic opportunity for young people to kick-start their career and earn while they learn.

Jen Miller, Early Careers Operations Manager at Arnold Clark, said: ‘Apprenticeships provide Arnold Clark with talent and ideas to drive our business forward.

‘We know young people can attend college, university or some other form of further education, but it’s not for everyone. Our apprenticeships allow young people to start on a career path from day one and earn while they learn.

‘We’re proud of our track record of helping apprentices go on to enjoy a successful career, both at Arnold Clark and within the wider industry.’

Scottish Apprenticeship Week is an annual event that celebrates the importance and value of apprenticeships in Scotland. It highlights the positive impact that apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

During this year’s Scottish Apprenticeship Week, Dr Sandesh Gulhane MSP visited Arnold Clark in Kilbirnie Street, Glasgow, to meet a range of different apprentices.

With £50 million of investment since 2004, GTG now owns five dedicated training centres in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Wolverhampton.
