In a significant move towards sustainable transportation, Wrightbus, headquartered in Ballymena, has introduced its new brand, Rightech, marking its entry into the zero-emission truck market. This initiative aims to provide urban operators with immediate solutions to decarbonise their fleets.
Rightech’s inaugural lineup features:
- 7.5-Tonne Trucks: Available in both left-hand and right-hand drive configurations, catering to various market needs.
- Midi Buses: Offered in six- and nine-metre lengths, these buses are designed for versatility in urban settings.
These vehicles are targeted at markets including the UK, Ireland, and Europe, reflecting Wrightbus’s commitment to broadening its sustainable transport solutions.
To ensure seamless integration and operation of these vehicles, Wrightbus has established a robust support system:
- Warranty and Maintenance: All Rightech vehicles come with a Wrightbus-backed warranty and a comprehensive service package.
- Expanded Service Network: A partnership with Sapphire has been formed to enhance service accessibility, adding 14 regional workshops across the UK to the existing Wrightbus facilities in Ballymena, Bicester, and Warwick.
Wrightbus has entered into key partnerships to bolster the Rightech brand:
- Ryze Power: This collaboration will provide essential charging infrastructure and expertise, facilitating efficient energy solutions for the new electric vehicles.
- W-Tech: In conjunction with Queen’s University Belfast, W-Tech will assist bus and truck operators in optimising routes, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.
While the foundation of the new products is based on a strategic framework agreement with two Chinese manufacturers, Wrightbus engineers have dedicated over 30,000 hours to independently test, homologate, design, and validate every component. This rigorous process ensures that the vehicles meet the high standards associated with the Wrightbus name.
Jean-Marc Gales, CEO of Wrightbus, stated, “Our factory continues to increase production of full-size single and double-deck buses, but to meet demand in the zero-emission midi-bus sector, this partnership makes sense.
“The quickest way to decarbonise truck and bus fleets is to electrify immediately. Rightech will solve these problems, backed by our portfolio of net-zero companies, which will provide more jobs and opportunities for our workforce in Northern Ireland.”
Wrightbus’s launch of the Rightech brand signifies a pivotal advancement in the transition to zero-emission transport solutions. By introducing a diverse range of electric trucks and buses, supported by strategic partnerships and a commitment to rigorous engineering standards, Rightech is poised to play a crucial role in the decarbonisation of urban fleets across the UK, Ireland, and Europe.
