Based on papers released in advance of a Transport and Environment committee meeting this week, Transport for London is proposing that the grace period for fleets to have a further three months to make their vehicles compliant with the new standards that come into force on the 28th October 2024.

If this is agreed by the councils, then enforcement of the new Progressive Safe System (PPS) will not start until 4th May 2025.

The RHA have recently published a DVS Explainer document produced by the new standard’s authors, Loughborough University, to help firms better understand what they need to do to comply: https://bit.ly/DVSExp.

The decision will be taken at the meeting on the 18th July 2024.
