The Exeter depot doing their bit
SHB complete a 1500 mile depot-to-depot challenge and raise almost 3K for Help for Heroes.
Employees from the Vehicle Hire and Management company SHB Hire Ltd took part in a nationwide run, cycle and/or row depot-to-depot challenge over the weekend (13-14 September) in a bid to raise money for ex-servicemen and women.
Each of SHB’s 14 depots were set a specified distance to reach the 1500 round mile circuit, dependant on their size and number of staff. While some used local gyms or got stationary equipment to use at their depot, others toughed it out on local pathways or canals.
SHB’s Commercial Director, Nicky Simpson, took to the water with her local rowing club Abingdon Rowing Club, while Operations Director Rick Taylor and the staff from Gloucester rode alongside the canal on bikes covering an impressive 30 miles each. The Exeter depot used a stationary bike from their local personal one-to-one training centre completing a total of 85 miles.
These are just some examples of the hardwork and dedication SHB employees took to raise money for our wounded soldiers and their families.
Discussing how the row on the Gloucester and Sharpness canal went, SHB’s Commercial Director, Nicky Simpson, said: “The day was a great example of how people come together to achieve one goal, having two Grenadier Guards with us on the day was a great reminder of who the real heroes are and helping us all to dig deep when the challenge got tough.”
On the whole, the depot-to-depot challenge has so far raised almost £2.5K and will hopefully reach over 3K once all monies and donations have been counted and verified. However, it’s not too late to get involved and as every penny counts you can still help raise money for this wonderful charity by visiting their Bmycharity page
