Chippenham Town FC has unveiled its newest signing – a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
The plug-in hybrid vehicle, provided by Melksham Mitsubishi, will be used by a new full-time commercial manager, which the club is currently in the process of hiring.
Chairman Neil Blackmore said: ‘We are keen to push the club forward, both on and off the pitch, and developing the commercial aspect is key to the future of the club. We are extremely pleased that Melksham Mitsubishi has decided to sponsor us in the form of this vehicle, which will be used by our new commercial manager to help raise the profile of the club.
‘Not only will having the Outlander PHEV save us money but it fits very well with our philosophy at the club. This shows that we are trying to do our bit to be environmentally friendly and be as community conscious as we can be.’
The Hardenhuish Park team, which plays in the Southern League Premier Division, has been lent the vehicle for a year.
James Ryan, Sales Manager at Melksham Mitsubishi in Western Way, said: ‘We are delighted to be able to support Chippenham Town FC and help them develop the business side of the club, which will ultimately help them on the pitch too. There’s a real community feel at the club and that is something that is very important to us as a dealership.’
Combining electric and petrol power, the Outlander PHEV can travel 32½ miles in electric mode alone – more than enough to accommodate the average daily commute. Since its launch last April sales have already passed the 10,000 mark and the vehicle has overtaken every other plug-in hybrid and pure electric vehicle on the market.
