Samsara, a provider of transportation and manufacturing solutions, announced the Asset Tag at its Beyond conference in Chicago. This product enhances real-time visibility of industry equipment and tools.

The tags are small, rugged and comparable in size to a fun-sized mars bar. Designed with no moving parts and entirely cast in a resin that makes it highly resistant to physical damage. This seamless design not only minimizes potential failure points but also maximizes durability.
“This tag had to survive the harshest of conditions”, says David Gal, vice president of product and engineering at Samsara, “Including freezing, thawing, vibrating and dropping from buildings.”
Real world testing included an impressive demo of slamming the tag with 6000lbs of force and it still functioned correctly.
Asset Tag utilises low-energy Enhanced Bluetooth capabilities functioning at 100 times the strength of traditional consumer Bluetooth products. This covers thousands of feet and even works easily through the metal and concrete walls found in warehouses!
Traditional Bluetooth devices offer limited pings and battery life. In contrast, our asset tags provide up to 200 pings a day with a battery life extending up to four years, setting a new industry standard.

“About a year ago, the Asset Tag was born from a radical idea that we could use the millions of Samsara Gateways we already have out in the field to create a network, enabling ‘tags’ to ping off those devices,” explained Gal. “With this, we’d unlock a level of asset tracking that was previously impossible and solve even more real-world problems for our customers.
