OMODA, the forward-thinking new automotive brand, will launch its award-winning electric OMODA E5 flagship model with an advanced Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

OMODA E5With a capacity of 61 kWh, the LFP battery has been engineered to offer the optimal balance of range, performance and cost, together with enhanced durability and sustainability compared to more commonly-used Lithium-ion battery chemistries such as Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese. OMODA will be providing an eight-year / 100,000 mile warranty for the battery pack.

Nickel and cobalt are critical materials that are in very high demand and are costly to produce. By comparison, the materials within LFP batteries are less expensive, with simpler and more transparent supply chains. They’re also tolerant of repeated high power charging. Because of this, the OMODA E5 will offer customers a desirable yet attainable choice when they make the switch to electric.

In 2023, EVs accounted for around one in six new vehicles sales in the UK1 – far behind sales of combustion engine models, with high prices one of the main factors dissuading consumers from going electric2. By engineering its flagship EV with a cost-effective LFP battery pack, OMODA wants to broaden the appeal of making the transition to electric mobility.

Offering a dynamic exterior design, a spacious interior, advanced infotainment and connectivity, and an impressive suite of advanced driver assistance systems – evidenced by a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating – the OMODA E5 is a compelling choice in the compact SUV segment.

The E5 comes with a 61 kWh LFP battery pack, and a single motor driving the front axle that develops 204 hp (150 kW) and 340 Nm torque. This combination delivers strong acceleration – 0 to 62 mph in 7.6 seconds – together with a range of up to 280 miles (WLTP). Capable of 120 kW (DC) rapid charging, replenishing the battery from 30% to 80% can take as little as 30 minutes. The powerful 11 kW on-board charger enables fast and convenient home charging.

OMODA E5Mr. Chen Chunqing, CEO of OMODA said: “Our decision to use LFP batteries reflects our commitment to providing a cost-effective, durable, and environmentally sustainable EV in the shape of our flagship OMODA E5. We believe that by making electric vehicles more accessible and efficient, we can accelerate the transition to cleaner mobility, contributing to improved air quality and reduced carbon emissions. By prioritising transparency, performance, and a commitment to meeting customer needs, OMODA aims to accelerate the transition to electric mobility and contribute to a greener future.”

And, unlike many competitors, the OMODA E5 also offers the convenience and flexibility of vehicle-to-load capability (up to 3.3 kW) in addition to the 12V outlets, enabling owners to power devices such as TVs, kettles and ovens using the vehicle’s LFP battery pack – perfect for outdoor adventures.

The OMODA E5 will arrive in UK showrooms from April this year, with pricing and full specifications to be announced soon.
