CoolKit launches BoxClever refrigerated box body range

CoolKit, the UK’s largest specialist converter of temperature-controlled panel vans, has launched a new standardised range of refrigerated box bodies aimed at food, pharmaceutical and other temperature-controlled fleet operators.

Called BoxClever, the new range has been developed to give operators greater certainty over vehicle delivery times while providing proven specifications designed to maximise productivity once vehicles enter service.

CoolKit says BoxClever has been developed by its dedicated engineering team using data and experience gained from hundreds of previous box body builds. The range brings together established specifications designed around the practical requirements of refrigerated fleet operations.

BoxClever is available across leading chassis manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Renault. Each specification has been engineered to balance payload, thermal performance, durability and day-to-day usability, allowing operators to select a design that has already been refined for temperature-controlled distribution.

Rather than designing every vehicle from scratch, operators can choose from a selection of proven standard specifications and options. CoolKit says this approach allows it to plan production more efficiently, helping to deliver shorter and more predictable lead times.

For fleet operators, greater certainty over delivery dates can make it easier to plan vehicle replacement programmes, driver requirements and customer commitments.

Fully bespoke refrigerated box bodies will continue to be available for operators with more specialist requirements.

Predictable delivery for refrigerated fleets

BoxClever is primarily aimed at operators running fleets of up to around 100 vehicles, with CoolKit identifying dependable delivery, consistent build quality and straightforward service as key priorities for this market.

Daniel Miller, Managing Director of CoolKit, said the new range has been developed in response to one of the practical challenges facing operators ordering refrigerated vehicles.

“Often, the hardest part of ordering a refrigerated box body is knowing when it will actually arrive,” said Miller. “We’re launching BoxClever to change that.

“CoolKit is well known as the UK’s largest panel van converter, but fewer people know how heavily we’ve invested in our refrigerated box body operation. Today we have dedicated design engineers, standardised box body platforms and the factory capacity and equipment to build more box bodies than ever before.”

The standardised approach means CoolKit can allocate production capacity more efficiently, while operators have greater visibility over when their vehicles will be ready.

“When customers choose a standard BoxClever specification, we can plan production straightforwardly and give them a delivery date they can build their business around,” Miller added.

“That lets operators make their own commitments with confidence, knowing the vehicle will be ready when their plans depend on it.”

Engineering based on real-world experience

CoolKit says BoxClever is the result of years of analysing the performance and practicality of refrigerated box bodies built for customers.

The standard specifications incorporate engineering knowledge gained from hundreds of previous builds, with operators able to configure vehicles around established designs rather than starting the engineering process from the beginning for every order.

“BoxClever comes from years of studying what works best across hundreds of box body builds,” said Miller.

“It is a range of standard, ready-to-configure specifications that carry the engineering knowledge and hard-won experience behind our best designs, and the accreditations that sit behind every build, from ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 to our OEM approvals.”

For operators transporting food, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive products, the design of a refrigerated body needs to combine effective temperature control with the payload capacity and durability required for intensive fleet use.

CoolKit says BoxClever has been designed with those operational requirements in mind, while also offering the potential benefits of a standardised product in terms of manufacturing, delivery and future vehicle replacement.

Miller added: “It gives food and pharmaceutical fleets the volume and second-life value of a box body, the payload and build quality CoolKit is known for, and, above all, a partnership with a converter that keeps its word.”

BoxClever orders open

The launch expands CoolKit’s refrigerated vehicle offering with a range designed specifically around the needs of operators seeking a balance between specification, payload, thermal performance and delivery certainty.

The standardised BoxClever approach is intended to reduce some of the uncertainty associated with ordering bespoke refrigerated bodies, while retaining the option of fully customised solutions where an operator’s requirements cannot be met by the standard range.

BoxClever is available to order now, with the range available for leading chassis including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Renault.

For temperature-controlled fleets, the new range offers an alternative approach to refrigerated vehicle procurement, combining established body designs with a production process intended to provide greater certainty over when vehicles will enter service.
