Zenith, the UK’s leading independent leasing, fleet management and vehicle outsourcing provider, has helped NG Bailey turn its LCV electrification ambitions into action. The business has introduced a trial fleet of electric vans. The trial will help NG Bailey explore how electric light commercial vehicles (eLCVs) can support its operations and advance its electric transition.

Ten fully electric Ford vans have joined the engineering and infrastructure service provider’s 600+-strong commercial fleet. The line-up includes the E-Transit Courier, E-Transit Custom and E-Transit. These three models give the business first-hand experience of how electric vans perform across different use cases. They also support NG Bailey’s wider sustainability ambitions.

Zenith continues to work with NG Bailey to understand how it uses vans across the business. The team is developing a vehicle specification catalogue built around NG Bailey’s operational needs. This work helps identify where electric vans could be a practical fit. It considers vehicle size, usage and fit-out requirements.

A collaborative approach to electric vans

Zenith brought its partners together to support NG Bailey’s electrification plans. It worked closely with Ford, NG Bailey’s preferred van provider. Vehicle branding specialist Mediafleet created a new design that reflects the company’s refreshed brand and its move towards electrification. The Van Hub then fitted out the inside of each vehicle, tailoring it to the different roles the vans will perform.

Trialling electric vans in real working conditions gives fleet operators practical evidence before they commit to a wider rollout. It also helps drivers build confidence with the technology and shows which jobs suit electric vehicles best.

Ryan Long, Head of LCV at Zenith, said: “Electrification isn’t simply about putting electric vans on a fleet. It’s about understanding where they can work, building driver confidence, and making sure the right vehicles are matched to the right jobs.

“As the UK’s most customer-focused fleet partner, our role is to work closely with customers like NG Bailey and bring together the right expertise to make that transition work in practice. This project is a great example of how we’re keeping our customers moving sustainably, while helping NG Bailey take another important step on its electrification journey.”

Lee Jackson, Group Fleet Manager at NG Bailey, added: “By working closely with our strategic partners, we are taking practical steps to improve the sustainability of our fleet and reduce its environmental impact. This supports our wider responsibility and impact strategy, helping us reduce emissions, improve the sustainability of our operations and contribute to our long-term environmental ambitions. Through collaboration and informed decision-making, we can continue to deliver the reliable, high-quality service our customers expect while transitioning our fleet in a responsible and sustainable way.”
