Experts from automotive LPG supplier Autogas Ltd have been educating motorists on the benefits of environmentally-friendly fuel at two major conferences in the UK this month.
The Worcestershire-based business attended Shell’s Make the Future London event – which over four days welcomed more than 30,000 delegates to a festival of ideas and innovation.
During the event, Autogas was given the opportunity to showcase two of its cabs which were used to ferry guests back and forth from the local train station.
The repowered Euro 6 compliant TX4 black cab – which runs on LPG – emits a staggering 80 percent less NOx emissions compared with a normal diesel powered version in addition to significant reductions of particulate matter.
In addition to reducing emissions, taxi drivers benefit from huge fuel cost savings of around 20 percent compared to when they were running on diesel.
The Make the Future London event gave visitors a rare glimpse into the future of our cities, showcasing bright energy ideas and providing a platform for innovation, collaboration and conversation about the global energy future.
The festival also saw cars take part in the first ever Shell Eco-Marathon Drivers World Championship where teams competed to see how far they could drive on the equivalent of one litre of fuel.
Autogas Marketing Manager Paul Beesley said: “The Make the Future London festival was an incredible event which shone a light on the importance of working together to create a successful low carbon society.
“The festival gave us an opportunity to showcase our LPG cabs to a large number of people, including members of parliament and key figures within environmental groups. They had the opportunity to see first-hand how comfortable, quiet and economical our repowered taxi cabs really are.”
Autogas experts were also invited to attend the APSE National Transport Seminar in Solihull last week, where they gave a talk on ‘LPG – for the future and the here and now’.
The event was organised by the Association for Public Service Excellence to look at effective local authority fleet management.
Held at the National Motorcycle Museum, the seminar featured a number of speakers and explored fuel alternatives and options to ensure efficient delivery of fleet services.
Mr Beesley added: “The APSE seminar was a fantastic one-day event which provided us with an ideal platform to discuss the many benefits of LPG fuel with local authorities.
“The issue of air pollution is one which needs addressing urgently and LPG fuel is an immediate solution to the UK’s air quality crisis.
“We were delighted to have been given the opportunity to attend these two impressive events and we hope we have inspired some delegates to make the conversion to LPG fuel and help protect our planet.”
