Delivering cars and vans, supporting operations across the business

Europcar, the leader in car hire services in Europe, has been chosen by Network Rail as the sole supplier of cars and light commercial vehicles for its nationwide vehicle rental requirements.

Under the new 3 year agreement, Europcar is expected to provide around 25,000 car and van rentals per year for Network Rail across both the trackside and non-trackside aspects of its operation.

Ken McCall, Managing Director, Europcar UK Group, added: “This is a major partnership for Europcar, demonstrating the full extent of the Europcar offering, from the range and diversity of our fleet and the extensive UK network to the latest MI and automated booking technology. We are looking forward to working with Network Rail to manage an effective transport solution that supports its business objectives.”

Network Rail runs, maintains and develops Britain’s rail tracks, signalling, bridges, tunnels, level crossings, viaducts and 18 key stations.

Responsible for the continued improvement of the railway, Network Rail needed a vehicle rental partner that could provide effective and affordable transport solutions supporting all aspects of its operations.

Europcar was selected by Network Rail following a detailed tender process. The company’s detailed MI and competitive pricing on cars and vans, particularly appealed to the Network Rail team, as well as Europcar’s ability to integrate existing online booking systems into its service for the rail operator.

Having the scale and scope of fleet that ensured that red, green or yellow cars were never offered to Network Rail (for obvious safety reasons), as well as the flexibility to provide a wide diversity of vehicles at short notice made Europcar the first choice.
