OMODA&JAECOO UK has set a new growth record, achieving a 2.71% market share in July, registering 1,874 OMODA vehicles and 1,915 JAECOO vehicles, according to new data published today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

This marks another strong month for the Chery International-backed brand, rising from 2.1% in June, driven by demand for its tech-focused, high-spec SUV range across ICE, hybrid and EV models. The market share increase coincides last week’s official confirmation of 10,000 UK orders for the JAECOO 7, which launched just months ago [31 January 2025]. Alongside the JAECOO 7, this growth is further underpinned by strong momentum from sister brand OMODA – including the ICE OMODA 5, the fully electric OMODA E5, and the flagship, self-charging OMODA 9 SHS.

Looking ahead, the arrival of flagship models such as the JAECOO 5 – available in ICE and EV – due on sale in October, plus the anticipated OMODA 7 and JAECOO 8, is expected to further strengthen interest and drive sustained growth in the second half of the year.

Gary Lan, CEO of OMODA&JAECOO UK, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have earned the trust of thousands of UK drivers in such a short space of time. To be competing with, and in some cases outperforming, long-established brands is a strong vote of confidence from customers – and a clear signal that the UK market is hungry for something new.

“This isn’t just a spike, however. It’s the beginning of something much bigger. We’re building trust, proving ourselves, and giving customers more than they expect. As today’s announcement confirms, we’re only just getting started.”

OMODA&JAECOO is part of Chery International, the largest exporter of cars from China for 22 consecutive years, and counting. OMODA launched in the UK in August 2024 and JAECOO in January 2025. All OMODA&JAECOO models are available via a rapidly expanding 75+-strong UK dealer network, with every vehicle backed by a 7-year / 100,000-mile warranty (8 years on the battery) and RAC Home Start included as standard.

  1. For the last 5 months, I have driven a Jaecoo J7. I have to say, it’s a great place to be. Yes, there is a lack of physical buttons, but after a while you get used to that, and prior to setting off, you make the adjustments. For me, that has become routine. A key button that exists is AC, so you can switch that on and off as you need, which for the U.K.’s changeable weather, is a must. I have since read motoring journalist say, ‘the ride isn’t great, especially on twisty roads,’ and that is true. But it also depends on how you drive. If you want to drive it like a hot hatch, then it probably not the car for you. But if like me, you want a more relaxed drive, then it works. That being said, for overtaking, just turn it sport mode, and you’ve got all the power you need. But this is the reason the car appealed to me. It is a similar size to an Evoque, but to get the same spec as the Jaecoo, it would have cost me £10k more. To buy the same spec for the same price, around £33k, I would have to buy a model that was 3 to 4 years old, and that would have been without the 7 year warranty. I am not surprised companies like Cherry are taking a big percentage of the sector. Perhaps this will force established brands to look at their pricing model.

  2. Omoda noble turbo is for me personally a fab car.
although not had for a long time, i can tell you that because i have mobility issues & much more, i have to look at what suits my needs & not just the look of a vehicle & this will take some beating now for me .
some one who has been drining the Ford kuga titanium X /st line since 2015 & even though test driven top brand badges , the kuga alone could hardly be beaten.
Now i am steering away ‘pardon the pun’ , but as of 2025 i have driven quite a few cars now & i stumbled across Omoda (i knew about Jaecoo 7) but i opened the door & was very pleasently suprised at the luxury look interior with 2 tone veneer & everything is electric ,except the vehicle itself.
with 187 bhp & although only 1.6 engine, compared to the 2ltr engines i have driven for as far back as i can remember, this is like a little secret whippet rocket. It is Sony sound , it has fancy speakers & a full width screen .
Chery really has thought of just about everything ! & gears are on wheel just like Mercedes which i love.
Don’t be put off by the little nitty gritty things like it tells you if not being observent on road enough with your mirrors (speakinf of mirrors) the rear view mirror has been changed in this model because the previous was like looking through a fishbowl keyhole(big turn off! but now.. it is as it should be .
it even has cool seats aswell as heated seats , which i kp heated seats on all year round, but when sat in trafic in hot weather & if like me hormones all over, popping cool seats on is a big help to cool you dwn.
the accelorator is a full length pedal (like bumper cars) 😅 which for a small person like me is ideal & back issues, so not straining having to hold foot onthe other styles. & i can reach the foot rest for left leg , which have to say in 9/10 tested cars i could not do this at 5ft 1inch.
so hats off , you truly tick all the boxes for me.
this SUV is bound to be the new future & not sure what else you can do to this to make any better! it has sunroof & 19inch wheels too, it has laser l/ambient ights interor & strobe indicators.
enough space for WC in boot too, but if adding a lot of other things then this might be a squeeze, but for me it gets 9/10 in everything, except i wish was more powerful, but hey ho, it is not mcclaren & we cannot race on roads, so it is perfect for everyday.
