Enterprise today announced the expansion of its 24/7 car club service into Hartlepool, resuming the town’s existing car club and supporting sustainable transport services in the area.
The new vehicles will be operated by Enterprise Car Club in partnership with HartlePower Community Interest Company (CIC).
A Hyundai i10 and a Toyota Yaris Hybrid, which are both larger, five-seater models, will help HartlePower to offer sustainable transport services and to develop local infrastructure links for the community. Enterprise is planning to grow the programme further with more cars in the future.
Members of the previous car club in Hartlepool will receive free Enterprise Car Club membership for one year (saving at least £60) as well as £20 of driving credit. To find out about this offer, residents should contact HartlePower directly.
New applicants in Hartlepool will pay only £10 for their first year’s membership and receive £10 of driving credit*.
The two new vehicles will be located at existing car club bays in Market Street Car Park and at Transport Interchange at the town’s main transport hub next to the railway station and bus terminal.
In addition to using the two Enterprise vehicles in Hartlepool, members will also be able to access Enterprise Car Club vehicles at Stockton and Darlington in the Tees Valley, as well as at 1,100 other locations in the UK.
Paul Hewitson, community projects manager at HartlePower, comments: “Enterprise has been extremely flexible, and demonstrated that they want to provide sustainable, environmentally-friendly motoring for Hartlepool in the most accessible and convenient way possible. This partnership supports the HartlePower objectives of improving the resilience of our residents and businesses in town.
“We see fuel-efficient, low emission vehicles as an essential part of helping local people and businesses stay mobile, providing safe and affordable transport to those who need it. This is a national and international business that really understands the needs of a local community.”
Enterprise Car Club is one of the most convenient ways to get motoring quickly. Individuals and businesses can sign up and be driving within a few hours, booking and accessing the vehicle with a smartphone app.
Enterprise’s wider network in the North East includes vehicles at the Enterprise branch in the Belle Vue Centre in Hartlepool as well as additional car club vehicles in on-street bays in Darlington and Stockton.
In addition to the two new cars located in Hartlepool, membership to Enterprise Car Club allows access to a growing network of 1,100 on-street vehicles available for rent 24/7, 365 days of the year, in more than 130 cities, towns and communities across the UK. Many Enterprise Car Club vehicles are located at transport hubs or railway stations to make it easier to travel around the UK using public transport.
Dan Gursel, managing director of Enterprise Car Club, adds: “HartlePower is working hard to provide people and businesses in Hartlepool with access to flexible transport services. A car club is an important part of the mix because it provides the local community with access to a more environmentally-friendly vehicle 24/7, 365 days a year and for any period from an hour to a day or longer. Visitors coming in by train or bus can also pick up a car and quickly be on their way.
“Our goal is to build a national network of vehicles that are on standby for our members, exactly when and where they need them, so we can provide a truly joined-up service.”
Enterprise Car Club membership is available to drivers 19 years or older and costs from £60 per year. Vehicles are available from £4.95 per hour including VAT and 21 pence per mile. Residents and businesses in Hartlepool can sign up by calling 0345 266 9290 or at www.enterprisecarclub.co.uk.
