Car Club and Daily Rental comes to Glasgow city centre

Enterprise, part of the world’s largest vehicle rental group, has opened its second Glasgow city centre branch in Tradeston to provide an even wider range of transport options to the local community – including car club vehicles that are available to rent 24/7, 365 days a year.

Enterprise is immediately creating six new jobs at the location, including four graduate positions on its renowned Management Training Programme.

The Tradeston branch will provide a variety of cars and vans to the local community to meet all mobility requirements, whether it’s a vehicle for business or personal use, by the hour, day, week or longer term. Four Enterprise Car Club vehicles – two vans and two low-emission hybrid cars – will be permanently located at the new branch to provide round-the-clock automated access to vehicles.

By sharing access to Enterprise’s wide range of low-emission vehicles, local businesses and residents can use a vehicle as and when they need it while reducing emissions in the city centre.

Located within walking distance of the existing Enterprise city centre branch on Oswald Street, the new Tradeston branch is next to the subway station, a prime location to meet increasing demand for integrated transport solutions in Glasgow.

The Enterprise Car Club vehicles located there will also offer a wider range of Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) transport options to the local community, as customers will be able to easily combine road journeys with the subway and other forms of public transport.

Chris Slade, Scotland Director at CoMoUK, a charity working to maximise the public benefit of collaborative mobility and an accreditation body for car clubs and bike share, said: “It’s always positive to see Glasgow residents and businesses having access to a range of transport options to help reduce the number of private cars on Glasgow’s roads via increasing shared transport.”

Enterprise Car Club is one of the most convenient ways to get motoring quickly. Individuals and businesses can sign up and be driving within a few hours, booking and accessing the vehicle with a smartphone app.

In addition to the four cars now located at Enterprise’s Tradeston branch, membership to Enterprise Car Club allows access to a growing network of 1,100 on-street vehicles available for rent 24/7, 365 days of the year, in more than 170 cities, towns and communities across the UK. Many Enterprise Car Club vehicles are located at transport hubs or railway stations to make it easier to travel around the UK using public transport.

Diane Mulholland, general manager for Enterprise in Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: “Enterprise now has seven rental branches in the Glasgow area, providing our customers, both individuals and businesses, with the right vehicle exactly when and where they need it. Adding Enterprise Car Club vehicles to the new Tradeston branch extends that service and enables people to access cars or vans at any time of the day or night.

“We’re working hard to ensure people in Scotland and across the UK can get where they need to go with a minimum of fuss. Car clubs and daily rental are an important part of the growing range of MaaS services.”

Enterprise Car Club membership is available to drivers 19 years or older and costs from £6 per month. Vehicles are available from £4.50 per hour including VAT and 50 pence per mile. Residents and businesses in Glasgow can sign up by calling 0345 266 9290 or at www.enterprisecarclub.co.uk.
