New Volvo XC60 wins Professional Driver award

The new Volvo XC60 has won the Luxury SUV category at the Professional Driver Car of the Year awards.

The competition was extremely tough, with the XC60 beating 12 other luxury SUVs, as judged by Professional Driver, the only magazine dedicated to the private hire, taxi and executive chauffeuring sector.

Professional Driver’s awards are unique in that each category is judged by 120 chauffeur drive and private hire companies and their drivers at a day-long ride-and-drive event.

The judges said the new XC60 offers an “excellent combination of rear legroom, headroom and bootspace, combined with some great technology and class-leading safety features”. The XC90, which won the same category in 2015, was awarded third place at this year’s awards.

“More and more companies are using SUVs now in their business as they offer a good combination of comfort and practicality for passengers. The new Volvo XC60 was a worthy winner in what was a very competitive category,” said Mark Bursa, Professional Driver’s editor.

“The award is highly regarded because it is judged by the chauffeur drive and private hire industry, and they work to some very exacting standards. It’s all about running cars that meet the requirements of their customers and drivers, combined with efficient operating costs,” explained Dominic Gill, Volvo Car UK’s Strategic Partnerships Manager.
