TyreSafe is inviting Britain’s drivers to Tune into Tyre Safety with an engaging musical theme for Tyre Safety Month, which starts on Monday 1st October.

When did you last Get into the Groove to do a tyre tread depth check? Are your tyres Under Pressure? TyreSafe, the organiser of Tyre Safety Month, is reminding Britain’s motorists to get down and check their tyres not just in October but all year round.

Drivers shouldn’t be complacent about tyre safety as more than half are driving on poorly maintained or defective tyres, with 57% of tyres underinflated and 27% already illegal when they are replaced.

Tyre-related incidents cause around 1000 casualties a year on our roads, and nearly 200 of these are killed or seriously injured. According to Department for Transport figures, there are significantly more casualties caused by tyre-related incidents than by drivers distracted by mobile phone use.

That’s why TyreSafe is calling on all drivers to check their tyres regularly and support Tune into Tyre Safety via social media. Those looking to be a little more involved are invited to create their own album covers and song titles to support this potentially life-saving message. To engage with Tyre Safety Month on social platforms use the hashtag #TyreChecks.

A pop-tastic video has also been created to support the campaign, which is hosted at tyresafe.org and the charity’s YouTube channel.

Stuart Jackson, Chairman of TyreSafe, said: “This year’s theme for Tyre Safety Month is all about engaging with drivers. The underlying message is a serious and important one but with the scope for creativity in sharing the message, there’s no reason it can’t be fun to be involved. No need to feel Under Pressure – just Tune Into Tyre Safety.”
