FIVE-STAR: Captur impressed in Adult Protection
Renault Captur has been awarded a five-star safety rating by the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP).
The vehicle obtained a global verdict of 80.5% to become the 15th Renault model to secure NCAP’s maximum five-star passive safety score.
Captur received 7.9 points from 8 in analysing side-on impacts, 32 from 36 for Adult Protection, 39 from 49 for Child Protection and 22 from 36 for Pedestrian Protection.
Renault achieved the score despite the NCAP scoring procedure being toughened in January.
The Adult Protection score – one of the best ever obtained in the small car segment – was attained for reasons including the car’s impact detection sensors and severity-dependent head-thorax airbags.
Three-point Isofix child seat anchorage contributed to the high Child Protection score, with an injury-minimising front-end impressing in the Pedestrian Protection category.
The Renault Captur is equipped with cruise control and a speed limiter as standard, as well as audible and visual seat belt reminder warnings for all seats.
