LAUNCH: New Kia pro_cee’d GT

Kia are venturing into the high-performance market after launching the eagerly-anticipated three-door pro_cee’d GT.

Priced from £19,995, the car is available from July 1, and has been developed for ‘an enthusiastic driving experience whilst remaining practical, affordable and comfortable’.

It will be followed in early 2014 by a GT version of the five-door cee’d.

The six-speed pro_cee’d GT is powered by a new turbocharged version of Kia’s 1.6-lire ‘Gamma’ engine, developing 201bhp and 265Nm of torque.

It accelerates from 0-60mph in 7.4seconds, with a top speed of 143mph, while offering 38.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 171g/km.

The GT can accelerate from 37 to 60mph in fourth gear in just 5.4seconds, and from 50 to 75mph in fifth gear in 7.3seconds.

Two trim lines – ‘GT’ and ‘GT Tech’ – are being offered, as well as a limited-edition production launch model, the ‘GT 1st Edition’.

Standard ‘GT’ trim equipment include air conditioning, cruise control, speed limiter, automatic lights, reversing sensors, Bluetooth, voice recognition, iPod connectivity and electric windows.

The ‘GT Tech’ specification adds the likes of satellite navigation, reversing camera display, heated front seats, Start/Stop and headlight washers.

Both specifications are available in Track Red, Fusion White and Phantom Black, with the ‘GT 1st Edition’ adding signature additions to the ‘GT Tech’ specification.

Like every Kia, the pro_cee’d GT comes with a seven-year, 100,000-mile transferable warranty.
