BETTER: New diesel is 10% more efficient
Vauxhall’s new Meriva will be equipped with a new look and class-leading Euro6 diesel engine, it has been revealed.
On sale next month, the MPV receives a newly-designed grille, chrome fog lamp accents and headlamps, with LED daytime running lights, tail lights and 18inch alloy wheels optional extras.
Meanwhile, Vauxhall’s all-new 136PS, 320Nm 1.6 CDTi diesel engine – which achieves 64.2mpg and 116g/km of CO2 emissions and debuted in the Zafira Tourer – replaces the 10% less efficient 1.7CDTi.
Diesel engine performance from the new Meriva has also been improved, with the 1.6 CDTi hitting 0-60mph in 9.1seconds, almost a second quicker than the 1.7 CDTi.
The Meriva’s petrol engine range – 1.4 100PS, 1.4T 120 and 140PS – remains and is now fully Euro6 compliant.
Pricing will be announced next month when the new Meriva goes on sale, with first customer deliveries in January 2014.
