A new fitting and calibration centre is to be opened by National Windscreens in York as part of the continued investment into its UK national network.

The new bespoke centre has been fitted out with the latest windscreen repair, fitting and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration equipment and is due to open on 1st September 2018.

Located at Victor Court on the Airfield Business Park at Elvington, York, it forms part of National Windscreens UK network of 108 fitting and calibration centres. This means that, on average, a UK motorist is never more than 20 minutes or 11 miles away from a technician.

“We have invested in a state of the art fitting and calibration centre to allow us to continue providing motorists in this area with the highest possible level of service. The new centre is completely bespoke, providing the space to service several vehicles at one time and features the latest fitting, repair and calibration technology,” said Pete Marsden, managing director at National Windscreens.

The centre is easily accessed from the York ring road.

“The new centre is staffed by a team of experienced technicians who are qualified in glass repair, replacement and calibration of ADAS cameras. With an ever-growing number of vehicles using ADAS cameras, should a windscreen replacement be needed we can undertake the calibration of the windscreen mounted camera during the same visit to the centre,” added Mr Marsden.

“As a critical component in ADAS features, it is imperative that the camera is calibrated accurately to ensure the vehicle safety systems work as intended.”

National Windscreens has already invested over £2 million in ADAS calibration equipment and training to provide a truly national calibration service. It is predicted that by 2020, 40% of all vehicles will have at least two ADAS features fitted as standard. With the majority of vehicle manufacturers stating that calibration work is best carried out in workshop conditions, the National Windscreens fitting and calibration centre network provides a local, one stop replacement and calibration service on a truly national basis.
