LUXURY: New Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Mercedes-Benz are claiming they have created their ‘most advanced and luxurious’ car ever, after launching the new S-Class.

On sale now and priced from £62,650 OTR, the vehicle offers a three-engine line-up, two trim choices and a multitude of new equipment.

UK production commences in September ahead of October delivery, with the new model offering a 9% power increase, 18% CO2 reduction and 22% better fuel consumption.

A Mercedes-Benz spokesperson said: “The new S-Class promises to continue to raise the benchmark in efficiency, in comfort, refinement and personalisation.”

Buyers can choose from a diesel, petrol or petrol hybrid engine – S 350 BlueTEC, S 500 or S 400 Hybrid – and an SE Line or AMG Line trim.

Compared to the outgoing W 221 model, power, emissions and fuel consumption are all bettered with the S 400 Hybrid.

Power hits 333hp, while CO2 emissions are down to 147g/km and fuel consumption is up to 44.8mpg.

Standard equipment added to the model includes reversing camera, COMAND Online NTG 5 telematics, full LED Intelligent Light System, DAB digital radio and Keyless Start.

Three seat packages are available in the rear – ranging from three leather seats to two individual seats complete with the ability to recline to 43.5degrees.

Furthermore, the seats can, if desired, simulate a hot stone massage while the armrests are also heated.

Prices start from £62,650 OTR for the S 350 BlueTEC SE Line, rising to £65,650 OTR for the S 350 BlueTEC L SE Line.

The S 400 Hybrid L SE Line is £69,650 OTR, while the S 500 L AMG Line is priced £88,130 OTR.
