TRIP: Competition is held in Tokyo

Two highly-skilled dealer technicians representing the UK have arrived in Tokyo to compete in Isuzu’s week-long World Technical Skills Competition.

The team, Brian George, from Imperial Commercials, Glasgow, and Alan Cottingham, from TIM Commercial Vehicle Services, Ilkeston, reached Japan on Saturday.

It is the third time ITUK have entered a team; this year, the technicians will face competition from Isuzu distributors from 30 different countries.

Mr George and Mr Cottingham will work under the guidance, leadership and coaching skills of Tony Hicks, Technical Trainer at Isuzu Truck UK.

They will be involved in theory and practical tests as well as simulations of vehicle problems for diagnosis, including assessment and rebuilding of engines and transmissions.

Keith Child, Marketing Director of Isuzu Truck UK, said: “As always, it’s a huge honour for ITUK to be invited to participate in this global event.

“Every year the quality and standards required to be successful get higher and higher, as even more countries around the world participate for this prestigious award.

“We are sure that both Brian and Alan will be excellent ambassadors representing the UK dealer network.”
