ELECT: James Tillyer remains EuroTra chief

James Tillyer, of the Freight Transport Association’s (FTA) Consultancy team, is to remain European Transport Training Association (EuroTra) President for a further two years.

Mr Tillyer was re-elected at the organisation’s Summer General Assembly meeting in Bucharest.

EuroTra is an international network of leading training institutes and organisations within the transport and logistics industry.

It aims to improve, refine and harmonise training practices so roads become safer, workers increase skillsets and the industry can continue to be the lifeblood of EU trade.

Mr Tillyer said: “I am delighted to be re-elected as EuroTra’s President.

“We have made great steps towards reinforcing the importance of high quality training in transport and logistics, and over the next two years we aim to continue to demonstrate the value of our association through the development of tools and guidance, utilising our expertise and raising awareness about who we are and what we can do.

“It’s a tough time for Europe right now, but it’s essential that we make sure training doesn’t suffer, and that we continue to invest in our transport workforce to increase skills and safety levels.”

EuroTra recently launched its annual Safety Award for 2013, open to individuals or organisations across Europe.

It recognises those responsible for excellent products or services aimed at improving road safety in the European road transport and logistics industry.

The winner will be presented with a cheque for €5,000 at EuroTra’s Winter General Assembly, to be held in Prague in November.

Further information, including an application form, is available from Malte Stamer, who can be contacted at [email protected]

The closing date for entries is 27 September 2013.
