REFRESHED: New Ategos for Fraikin

Fraikin are updating their rental fleet with £6million-worth of 7.5tonne Mercedes-Benz Ategos.

Europe’s largest commercial vehicle fleet services company have taken delivery of 100 Ategos, with a further 35 due to enter service before the New Year.

Mercedes-Benz Dealer Midlands Truck and Van handled the deal, with all Ategos 816 models with S day cabs, 115kW engines and six-speed manual gearboxes.

Economy is further boosted and emissions reduced by the standard-fit MSS system, which switches off the engine whenever the vehicle is stationary for more than three seconds.

The trucks’ box bodies, meanwhile, were supplied by JC Payne, of Aldridge, West Midlands, who also fitted their Dhollandia 1.0tonne column tail lifts.

Nick Solomon, Head of Procurement and Supply Chain at Fraikin, said: “We have a lot of experience of the Mercedes-Benz product and the 7.5tonne Atego certainly offers the performance, fuel economy, payload and exceptional levels of driver comfort that our customers look for in a rental truck.

“From an owner’s point of view the whole life costs over the minimum five years that we’ll run these vehicles are also highly attractive.

“The Mercedes-Benz image and reputation is very high and, we believe, has close synergies with our own brand.

“We enjoy strong relationships with Midlands Truck and Van and Mercedes-Benz UK, and are very happy to award these important orders to them.”

  1. If they are using Mobil Delvac LE 5W 30 the fuel economy could be extended, along with long drain periods. We use it in our road tanker fleet.
