SKODA: 2014 Tour de France
Škoda’s fleet of over 250 vehicles are once again supporting the Tour de France, ten-years without a single technical defect interfering with their aid.
Before finishing in Paris on Sunday 27 July, the Škoda fleet will once again accumulate another 3million kilometres, as the 2014 Tour visits France, Belgium and the UK.
With only the addition of internal and external cycle racks, the Tour fleet are factory-standard Superb and Octavia hatchbacks and estates, Yeti crossovers and Rapid Spaceback models.
Patrick McGillycuddy, Head of Fleet, at Škoda UK said: ‘The Tour de France is the most gruelling trial for Škoda cars.
“30 million trouble-free kilometres is proof that Škoda vehicles are the perfect choice for any company fleet.
“The combination of space, practicality and performance translates easily from cycling team needs to more general fleets.
“The affordable running costs, highly economical engines and low carbon footprint add to the advantages ŠKODA offer to fleet managers across the UK.’
Thanks to British success in events such as the Tour de France, along with the legacy from the 2012 London Olympics, UK cycling is currently surging in popularity, evidenced by the huge crowds watching in Yorkshire this weekend.
