INTEREST: BMW i3 sparks EV awareness
BMW’s i3 launch is sparking a huge uplift in global electric vehicle interest, the manufacturer have claimed.
Since revealing the EV, BMW have been inundated with test-drive requests, with around 6,500 people in the UK alone requesting a trial run.
This figure is more than the current total of EV owners in the entire country.
Globally, 100,000 people have registered for test drives, while BMW currently have 10,000 orders.
Contrary to expectations, more people are being drawn to the pure electric version than the model with a small range-extender combustion engine.
Ian Robertson, Board Member for Sales and Marketing at BMW, said: “We have excited the world about the possibilities for electric cars.
“BMW is determined to play a very significant role in electric cars, and London is the driving force in a lot of our thinking.”
