Northgate, the leading provider of rental and mobility solutions in the United Kingdom, is partnering with The Nurture Group to support their sustainability goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2030.
The Nurture Group, a national service provider encompassing three brands: Nurture Landscapes, Gavin Jones, and Rokill Pest Control Services, has been a loyal Northgate customer since 2018 and manages a fleet of over 420 vehicles. Their operations span various sectors, including grounds maintenance, landscape construction, pest control, winter gritting, and interior and exterior plant services. Consequently, their fleet sees diverse daily mileage and vehicle usage patterns. Recognising the importance of sustainability and energy efficiency, The Nurture Group determined that approximately 50% of their carbon footprint stemmed from their lower mileage commercial vehicles. In response, they identified fleet electrification as the most effective means of reducing their overall emissions.
The journey towards electrification began with the assistance of Northgate’s “Drive to Zero” program. Following an invitation to one of Northgate’s electric vehicle (EV) roadshows, a comprehensive analysis of The Nurture Group’s fleet was conducted to pinpoint vehicles that could be immediately transitioned to EVs based on their usage profiles. The initial wave of vehicles replaced with electric Light Commercial Vehicles (eLCVs) included small to medium-sized vans with daily travel distances of less than 150 miles. These included models such as the LEVC, Renault e-Kangoo, Mercedes-Benz eVito, and Peugeot e-Expert.
Northgate’s flexible hire packages, available for 12 months or more, guarantee that The Nurture Group has access to new, dependable, and efficient vehicles on adaptable terms to facilitate the gradual transition of the remainder of their fleet.
In addition to their efforts in electrifying their fleet, The Nurture Group has successfully implemented a greener company car policy. This policy has resulted in their fleet composition consisting of 87.5% electric and hybrid vehicles, with a significant majority being fully electric.
Neil McCrossan, Sales and Marketing Director at Northgate, said, “Northgate’s ‘Drive to Zero’ fleet electrification program has been in operation for over a year and has been instrumental in helping businesses embark on the journey towards electrifying their fleets. The Nurture Group exemplifies a seamless, efficient, and hassle-free transition to a sustainable fleet that can be phased in over time.”
Asim Iqbal, Plant Machinery and Fleet Manager at The Nurture Group, said, “With our mission to reduce our carbon footprint and achieve Net Zero status by 2030, Northgate has played a crucial role in assisting us in this endeavour. Their supportive team provided us with comprehensive advice and assistance, ultimately reducing our costs and enhancing our attractiveness to clients.”
