REFRESHED: Kia upgrade Sportage (not shown)

Kia’s refreshed Sportage will boast styling upgrades and new equipment levels.

The crossover, which hits showrooms in February priced from £17,495, will also be available with two new engines – an all-wheel-drive 2.0litre CRDi and a 1.7litre CRDi turbodiesel.

Design changes affect the grille, rear combination lights, LED lights, wheels, dashboard paint finish and steering wheel.

An Infinity premium audio system, available on Sportage for the first time and previously seen on Optima models, has been added to higher grades.

Fuel economy across the range is up to 54.3mpg, with CO2 emissions from 135g/km.

Ian Mathews, Head of Product Planning at Kia Motors UK, said: “With the adage ‘if it ain’t broke..’ at the back of our minds we looked carefully at what changes to make to the line-up for the 2014 Sportage to ensure that what customers love about their cars is kept and for enhancements to the line-up to add appeal and diversity.

“We’ve listened to our dealers and customers and by adding more engine options at the entry and top-of-the-range as well as incorporating new technologies such as Trailer Stability Assist across all models we are taking standard specification levels to those expected on premium brands.”
