FIESTA ST:  Performing better than expected

Ford are upping the production of their recently-launched Fiesta ST by 15% after smashing their European performance targets.

Around 3,000 orders have been so far received – the annual target is 5,000 – meaning production has been boosted to 60 vehicles every day.

European demand is being led by UK customers, who have made up 56% of all dealer reservations across the continent.

Powered by a 180bhp, 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, the Fiesta ST is capable of 0-62mph in 6.9seconds and has a top speed of 139mph.

Roelant de Waard, Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford of Europe, said: “The customer and media reaction to the Fiesta ST has been extraordinary – it’s really become an instant classic and orders have been extremely strong.

“We are doing what we can to increase production and try to meet demand.”
