In a significant move towards sustainable transportation, Yutong, a leading Chinese vehicle manufacturer, has announced the upcoming launch of its zero-emission 7.5-tonne truck, the Yutong T75e, in the United Kingdom. This initiative aligns with the UK’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly commercial vehicles.
The Yutong T75e offers operators a choice between two battery configurations:
- 100kW Battery: Designed for standard operational needs, providing a practical range suitable for daily urban deliveries.
- 132kW Battery: This enhanced option delivers a range exceeding 180 miles on a single charge, catering to longer routes and extended usage without compromising performance.
With an unladen chassis-cab weight of under 3,000kg, the T75e is engineered for versatility. It supports a variety of body types, including:
- Box
- Tipper
- Curtain side
- Compaction
- Insulated bodies
Additionally, the truck offers three distinct electric Power Take-Off (ePTO) options, enhancing its adaptability across different commercial applications.
Yutong has partnered with Pelican Engineering Group, renowned for introducing Yutong’s city buses and coaches to the UK market. Pelican will be responsible for the sales and servicing of the T75e, ensuring comprehensive support for operators.
Richard Crump, Managing Director at Pelican Engineering, emphasized the importance of this development, stating, “If the UK is to satisfy its net zero ambitions, then the decarbonisation of the commercial vehicle sector is a crucial part of the jigsaw.” He further highlighted the readiness of the 7.5-tonne sector for electrification and the comprehensive solutions offered by the Yutong truck chassis in conjunction with Pelican’s charging and battery storage solutions.
Demonstrator vehicles of the Yutong T75e will be available for customer trials starting in April 2025, providing operators with the opportunity to experience the truck’s capabilities firsthand.
The introduction of the Yutong T75e marks a pivotal advancement in the UK’s journey towards zero-emission commercial transportation. With its versatile design, robust battery options, and the backing of Pelican Engineering’s expertise, the T75e is poised to play a significant role in the decarbonisation of the UK’s commercial vehicle sector.
