Founded in 2001 by father and son Jack and Ben Ruby, LHT Logistics began life as a local courier operation from a 1,000 sq ft warehouse in Edmonton. The family had previously been involved in running the 270-year-old London Hospital Tavern before switching hospitality for logistics.

Over the past 25 years, the business has evolved into a long-distance logistics provider and a long-standing shareholder member of the Pall-Ex network. Today, LHT Logistics operates a fleet of 15 vehicles and employs a 30-strong team at its depot close to the M25.

LHT Logistics expands fleet and territory

The company is continuing to invest in its fleet to support future growth and maintain compliance. Alongside its modern Renault Trucks fleet, LHT Logistics has recently purchased two new MAN vehicles as part of a strategic move towards long-distance general haulage.

The investment is designed to increase delivery capacity while improving service reliability and operational efficiency as the business expands its long-distance operations.

The depot’s strategic position on the M25 provides access to key routes across North London, Hertfordshire and Essex, while the company also operates daily nationwide trunking services.

LHT Logistics has recently taken on additional Pall-Ex network territory covering Harlow, Bishops Stortford and Stansted. The expansion has contributed to a significant increase in turnover over the past six months and is supporting the company’s plans for further growth.

People remain at heart of 25-year success

While fleet investment and territory expansion are driving the next stage of development, LHT Logistics says its people remain central to the company’s success. Long-serving employees include warehouse manager Clint Joseph and driver Emin Emin, both of whom have been with the business for more than 20 years and have witnessed its transformation from a regional courier operation into a major transport provider.

Reflecting on the company’s 25-year journey, Ben Ruby, Managing Director at LHT Logistics, said: “Reaching 25 years is a massive milestone for us, and it’s a real testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. We’ve come a long way from our courier days in Edmonton, but through every stage of growth, our focus has remained on family values, looking after our people and investing back into the business.

“Investing in our fleet and expanding our territory are crucial steps to the next chapter of growth for us, but our biggest strength will always be the people behind the business—those on the road, in our warehouse or in our office. Much of that growth has been made possible through our long-standing partnership with Pall-Ex, whose network support and collaborative approach to work has given us the foundation to scale our operations, deliver an award-winning service and look to the future with real confidence. Here’s to the next 25.”

The strength of LHT Logistics’ operation was also recognised at the annual Pall-Ex awards, where the company secured the ‘Pall-Ex Depot of the Year’ title. The award recognises the performance and contribution of standout members across the network.

Commenting on the long-standing partnership between the two businesses, Barry Byers, Pall-Ex Group’s Chief Operating Officer, added: “LHT Logistics has built a fantastic business over the last 25 years. They are proof of what can be accomplished when a business stays true to its core values, all while investing in its future.

“They continue to be a cornerstone of our network, and we’re proud to celebrate this anniversary alongside them.”

For LHT Logistics, the combination of fleet renewal, new territory and continued investment in its people provides a platform for the next stage of growth, building on a quarter of a century of family ownership and logistics expertise.
